Every year, the Aurél Bernáth Gallery in the House of Culture hosts a series of beautiful and high-quality exhibitions for art lovers.
In addition to the varied exhibitions of paintings, sculptures and photographs, the gallery holds great importance for the village of Ábrahámhegy. With the support of the then mayor and the representative body, and with the help of art historian Mimi Kratochwill, they started the "Aurél Bernáth and his students" exhibition series in 1996. The Municipality of Ábrahámhegy invites each year a former student of Aurél Bernáth to present his works. The exhibitions are organized and directed by Mimi Kratochwill.
Aurél Bernáth (1895-1982) Two-time Kossuth Prize and Munkácsy Prize winner painter, graphic artist, art teacher, writer was one of the most outstanding artists of 20th century Hungarian painting and, as a result of his art education, one of the most influential masters of his time. In addition to his paintings, his writing is also significant. From 1940, Ábrahámhegy was the centre of his Balaton habitat, where he created several of his works and bought a house as well.
