Bujdosók lépcsője is a flight of stairs leading you up on the hill from Badacsonytördemic. The so called "Stairs of the Exiled" has 464 steps all together and it is a well loved destination among hikers.
The Hungarian National Blue Hiking Trail goes around Hungary, and it has a major part in Badacsony. Its section here starts from the Badacsonytördemic-Szigliget railway station and leads hikers up the mountain via Rodostó and Újhegy streets. The stairs lead up to the top of the mountain from the former Rodostó tourist house.
Built in 1936, the stairs commemorate the 1935 Rákóczi Memorial Year (which meant the 200th anniversary of the death of Ferenc Rákóczi, the famous leader of the war of independence of the early 1700s which also wears Rákóczi's name. The Rákóczi's War of Independence (1703-1711) was the first major struggle for freedom against Habsburg absolutism in Hungary, after the Hungarians were liberated from Ottoman rule in 1699).
The stairs are lined with several resting points, all named after important former alumnus of the Kuruc era (Rákóczi's era): you can meet Ilona Zrínyi, Miklós Bercsényi, Kelemen Mikes, Krisztina Csáky or Zsuzsanna Lorántffy on your way. At the end of the 464-step trail, we can take a breather at the Panka Czinka rest stop, from which the Tördemic lookout point on the left promises a beautiful panorama of the Szent György Hill and the mountains surrounding the settlement of Szigliget.
From the Tördemic lookout point, you can also conquer the other side of the Czinka Panka rest area, from where you can explore the Ranolder Cross or the Egry József lookout point and even return to the shores of Lake Balaton on the south side of the mountain towards the village of Badacsony.
