Basalt church of Badacsonytomaj
Architectural curio of the village (Badacsonytomaj) is the Roman Catholic church of neo-Roman style constructed of black basalt stones. It was the first building of Europe of this character. parish church was built in 1931-32 according to the plans of Gáspár Fábián. The church is 37 meters long, 19 meters wide and its towers 33 meters high. The altar in the sanctuary is made of red marble and white artificial stone. In 1981, the temple was renovated for its half-century anniversary. On this occasion, large tabletop pictures of Erzsébet Udvardi were made: The Last Supper, Gethsemane Night and the Resurrection.
